Kids MMA / Jeet Kune Do
Our teaching method:
We do not train children. We assist them to develop to their full potential.
We do not condition them to respond predictably through rote technique. We provide the conditions for them to evolve and create dynamic means by which to achieve success.
We do not use a win or lose paradigm. We use incremental and progressively increasing challenges in complexity, intensity, and unpredictability to provide the child with positive feedback and “errorless learning.”
We are not there to think for them. We are there to reinforce an environment conducive to the stability and maintenance of independence, freedom, and creativity.
Our Programs:
Little Dragons: ages 3-8
Tiny Tigers: ages 7-13
Training in the martial arts offers the following benefits for your child:
Improves self esteem
Martial arts is unlike team sports in that the emphasis is on the kid’s self esteem, not the team’s winning record. Our grading system is based on individual performance. When the kid’s earn their belt, it really improves the way they feel about themselves.
The structure of the class teaches discipline
Our patient instructors enforce good rules and proper behaviour in the class. The kid’s are expected to have the same attitude outside of the class. Our parents really appreciate the improvement in their child’s self discipline.
The classes help channel aggression
Studies have shown that the martial arts can be good for a child. That is because the martial arts can give a positive outlet for all of the kid’s energy.
Development of confidence
Developing self-confidence is one of the main reasons a lot of adults and their children take the martial arts. All of our classes have many drills for the development of self-confidence.
Self defence skills are learned
Our classes are first and foremost fun, however we do teach awareness and avoidance principles. We also develop the kid’s verbal and physical skills to deal with a self defense situation. These skills work through continuous practice. They work so well that we also teach the kid not to try these techniques on sibling, family member or friend.
Child Safety
Our classes teach ongoing strategies to help keep your child safe from potential dangers. We also provide parents with continuous information on such relevant topics as Internet Safety, Bullying, etc.
