Physical Fitness refers to the capacity of an athlete to meet the varied demands of a physical activity for a measured length of time, intensity, load and frequency.
Components of Fitness
Body Composition — The ratio of fat/lean mass
Cardiovascular Endurance — The heart's ability to deliver blood to working muscles
Stamina — The ability to perform movements for extended repetitions
Strength — The extent to which muscles can exert force against resistance
Speed — The ability to minimize the time cycle of movement
Flexibility — The ability to maximize the range of motion at joints
Isolated Muscular Endurance — A single muscle's ability to perform sustained work
Motor Fitness (Skill Based)
Agility — The ability to perform a series of movements in opposing directions
Balance ��� The ability to control the body's centre of gravity
Co-ordination — The ability to combine distinct movement patterns together
Accuracy — The ability to control a limb or object in a given direction
Power — The ability to exert a maximal force in a minimal time
Reaction Time — The time taken to respond to a given stimulus
