I’m always looking to see what’s on the horizon, pick up tips I haven’t learned and see if there is anyone that I can learn it from that I respect in terms of their knowledge, experience, credentials and practicality.
I can’t even remember what I was searching on Self Defense, however the following showed up:

And let me tell you that got my BULLSHIT meter running overtime. Having trained with some of the top people in the world in Self Defense and Personal Protection I can tell you this: If anyone, and I mean anyone, tells you that you can be taught to defend yourself in 2 days, and learn techniques that can be applied to any and all situations….tell them to fuck off and run!
That is irresponsible and a pathetic grasp at trying to earn money.
I have studied Martial Arts for over 30 years. I have trained under one of the most impressive British Special Forces operatives, undergoing intense Psychological and Physical stress training under those conditions. I’ve been trained in CQC, terrorist tactics, counter terrorism and industry Tradecraft (for those who do not know what that is: Within the intelligence community, refers to the techniques, methods and technologies used in modern espionage. Escape and evasion skills that include how to pick locks, escape handcuffs, rope, duct tape and zip ties).
Just because you take a weekend course in first aid, have a few smoke detectors in your house and own an axe…that doesn’t make you a firefighter.
Ask anyone who really knows what it takes to teach you how to defend yourself, you are not doing it in a weekend. In that weekend you may learn that this is truly a topic, and you may learn some cool techniques, but you should learn more about Self Protection rather than Self Defense.
For your own self worth and safety, do not be suckered into the shiny object that says you can learn to do this in 2 days. It’s absurd. As absurd as believing the earth is flat, no matter how pretty the marketing or how convincing the program tries to be.
The best laugh I earned with these was the one that offered to become a certified self defense instructor in 2 days. Seriously, is that the kind of program you want to trust your personal protection to? And is that the kind of person you want to be learning that from? Someone who learned it in 2 days versus someone who has first hand experience and knowledge?
Yet another one offered this Certified Instructor program in 3 days. For $900…Money grab, pure an simple and honestly, an ethical question arises. I’m not sure how these people sleep at night taking money while offering a false security to their customers.
Do your homework people, for your sake.
