MUAY THAI

Muay Thai, sometimes referred to as Thai boxing, is a combat sport that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs", as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins.  As the national sport and cultural martial art of Thailand, Muay Thai was developed several hundreds of years ago as a form of close-combat that utilizes the entire body as a weapon.

Is Thai Boxing the same as Kickboxing?  The most common difference between the two sports is that  kickboxing is a 4-point striking system that involves the use of kicks and punches only, Muay Thai is an 8-point striking system involving the use of not only kicks and punches, but also makes use of elbows and knees, and the ‘full’ clinch (upper body grappling).
