Physical Fitness refers to the capacity of an athlete to meet the varied demands of a physical activity for a measured length of time, intensity, load and frequency

  • Body Composition:  The ratio of fat/lean mass.

  • Cardiovascular Endurance:  The hearts ability to deliver blood to working muscles and their ability to use it over time/intensity.

  • Stamina:  The ability to perform movements for extended repetitions over time.

  • Strength:  The extent to which muscled can exert force against resistance.

  • Speed:  The ability to minimize the time cycle of movement

  • Flexibility:  The ability to maximize the range of motion at joints.

  • Isolated Muscular Endurance:  A single muscles ability to perform sustained work over time.

  • Agility:  The ability to perform a series of movements in succession in opposing directions.

  • Balance:  The ability to control the bodies centre of gravity either moving or stationary.

  • Co-ordination:  The ability to combine distinct movement patterns together.

  • Accuracy:  The ability to control a limb or object in a given direction.

  • Power:  The ability to exert a maximal force in a minimal time - "Strength x Speed".

  • Reaction Time:  The time taken to respond to a given stimulus.
